Schussenweg

From the marketplace, head out of town towards Bad Buchau. After about 300 m, turn off to the "Gletschergarten". It is a collection of erratic boulders – large stones that were transported about 20,000 years ago by the glacier of the Würm Ice Age from the Alps to our region. They originate from deposition sites south of the Gletschergarten. After a further 1.5 km northeast, the natural monument Schussenursprung is reached. Here the oldest Upper Paleolithic campsite of reindeer hunters was found. From here, the Schussen begins its 59 km long course to Lake Constance. The barbecue area invites you to take a break. Exploring water, forest, and soil is especially an adventure for children. A short climb leads to the sculptures of the "Water Guardians" by Theresia Moosherr. On the return route to the district of Roppertsweiler, a phenomenal view of the Alps can be seen in good weather. After crossing the street, continue on the Ice Age moraine hill, past dead ice holes, to the Bad Schussenried natural bathing lake "Zeller See". Passing the town hall, you reach the starting point again.
