After the steep ascent from Durnholz to the Durnholzer Jöchl, you always follow the ridge towards the south. At the beginning, near the Karnspitz, the ridge is narrow and sometimes a bit exposed, requiring sure-footedness and concentration. But soon the ridge broadens into a wide back, and only a few sections still require full attention. Here you can fully enjoy the wonderful panorama and the solitude of the Sarner mountains. Several peaks are reached, of which only the Hurler bears a large cross. After descending to the Kollmannjöchl, a short, demanding but roped secured ascent follows towards Radlspitz. Those who want to skip this peak with its impressive summit cross and instead prefer a wonderfully refreshing mountain swim are recommended the short detour via the Radlsee. Afterwards, you reach the Genteralm via the Leiterspitz. A stopover is recommended, as you need to gather the last strength for the following 1000-meter descent into the valley!
Author’s recommendation
A stop at the friendly Genteralm is worthwhile and provides strength for the last 1000 m descent into the valley!

Roadbook
From the bus stop, you climb up into the village of Durnholz and then continue ascending, always following trail No. 12, through meadows, forest, and larch slopes up to the Durnholzer Jöchl. From here, follow trail No. 17, which leads with constant ups and downs over several peaks and passes (Karnspitz, Hurler, Kollmannjöchl, Radlspitz, Leiterspitz). From the last peak, the Leiterspitz, you descend past the Genteralm down to the Messnerhof with the charming little church of St. Valentin, finally reaching Astfeld through the "Timpflergass".
