Safety information
Alpine tour with rope-secured sections, alpine experience, and sure-footedness on steep terrain are prerequisites.Roadbook
On path 644 towards Hesshütte up to the first Koderboden. Turn left and take the Schneelochweg up into the Schneekar. Keeping right over scree and rock steps into the Schneeloch and now steeper to the left around a rock pillar. In occasional easy climbing mostly on solid rock to the ridge and after a few meters to the summit. The view over the entire Ennstal Alps and especially into the Gesäuse National Park is outstanding. The descent via the Josefinensteig demands full concentration again. A few exposed sections with rope protections along the Guglgrat with impressive views into the Tellersack have to be mastered. The steep slope down to the Hesshütte also features some secured passages. Through a short larch zone you reach the Hesshütte with an opportunity to rest. The descent proceeds on the hut trail back to the starting point at the Gasthof Kölblwirt.
