Nusplinger Hut – “Breiter Fels” – “Brankbühl” – “Staigfels” – Nusplinger Hut

From the parking lot at the Nusplinger Hut, we cross the (K7150) and walk about 50m along the meadow path (K7149) towards Heidenstadt. Here we turn left and hike 1.5 km through managed Alb meadows to the connecting path Heidenstadt - Muttergottessteige. There we turn left following the main hiking trail “Y” towards Nusplingen through meadows with numerous hedges and bushes, where crickets and many bird species feel at home.

At the first opportunity, we leave the main trail and follow a forest path to the viewpoint “Breiter Felsen”. On the two benches there, we have a wonderful view of the village Nusplingen in the beautiful Bära valley. Then we enter the shadows of the forest, up the mountain to the highest point of the route – the viewpoint “Brankbühl”. From here we follow a small path slowly downhill through the forest along the escarpment to the viewpoint “Staigfels”. Here too, a bench invites us to linger, to enjoy the view into the picturesque Bära valley, the Galgenwiesen nature reserve and its impressive beech forests. Then we descend a short narrow path back to the Nusplinger Hut.
