In this short, scenically as well as culturally very attractive circular route, both small and large explorers can climb one of the impressive Three Emperors' Mountains: the Hohenrechberg
The path first leads to the baroque pilgrimage church St. Maria, which was built on the 707 m high plateau. It continues on natural paths to the Hohenrechberg castle ruin, right into the time of the minnesingers and brave knights. The castle ruin recalls the splendor of the Staufer dynasty and the knightly and countly families of Rechberg and Rothenlöwen. What no besiegers managed for about 600 years was accomplished by the forces of nature: in 1865, lightning struck during a winter thunderstorm and the main castle was almost completely burned down. Today, the Rechberg castle ruin is considered one of the most beautiful in Swabia. Those who want to enjoy the magnificent views in peace can take a break at the “Burgschänke” before the path leads back to the starting point.
