Delightful valley walk in the spell of dolomite-like limestone castles
Loads of powder snow and clean air. The industry-free Tannheimer Tal, praised as the most beautiful high valley in Europe, also surrounds visitors with its diverse attractions during the cold season. A fairy tale land for romantics. On the one hand – and of course they must be mentioned first – the almost Dolomite-king-like rock formations that suddenly shoot up. Climbing routes run through the comparatively well-preserved walls with breathtaking boldness. Thanks to their sunny exposure, these routes attract eager applicants even at a time of year when skiers crowd the opposite valley side.
On the other hand, the still little-developed valley floor offering genuine relaxation stands out: cross-country skiers come from far away for a reason. Plenty of nature indeed. We leisurely stroll uphill towards the commanding, rock-armored Red Cliff. Where the path branches off to Adlerhorst, the gentle winter hiking trail through light forest is followed. Cross-country skiers flock over the seemingly endless, groomed snow carpet of Haldensee, overshadowed by Vogelhörnle and Neunerkopf. In the background rise Iseler and Kühgundspitze, while on the southern valley side, directly opposite us, the glowing crest of Krinnenspitze stands out. To the east, a transmission tower now marks the summit of Hahnenkamm. To the right, the Gaichtspitze makes an impression. After crossing a ski slope, another spectacle appears on stage. The adventurous climbing sections of the cliff neighbor Hochwiesler now attract the admiring eye. The main route leads us to Nesselwängle, 1145 m. At the
