Roadbook
This varied trail in the northern part of the municipality of Bad Traunstein takes you past isolated farmsteads in the Waldviertel region (Spitzhof, Dapfhof, Aschermühle) and very small villages (Maueröd, Schönau). Interesting landscape features provide insight into the often arduous farming practices of the past. You’ll start from the parking lot at the elementary school and hike past the isolated farmsteads of Spitzhof, Dapfhof, and Groß-Hummelberg. Then you’ll continue left toward Maueröd and on to Aschermühle. The trail passes through the villages of Aschen, Bankschmitten, Bernau, and Schönau. You’ll continue along the road until you return to Bad Traunstein after about 2 kilometers.
