Pfalz Pfade Weilach: Weilach Ruin circular route
"After eating, you should rest or take 1,000 steps." This route offers both: the Palatinate Forest Association hut "In der Weilach", resting benches, and a relaxing path.
The path, also suitable for families with small children, leads along a forest clearing, past the Palatinate Forest Association hut "In der Weilach" (with playground) and the Weilach farm ruins. From the former farm, the remaining walls of the ruins are still visible. The facility was built in the 14th century as "Weilacher Hof" and was destroyed in 1790 by a band of robbers who burned down the farm. The name "Weilach" comes from the numerous "puddles" and willow trees in this area. The farm belonged to the Leininger counts who resided at Hardenburg. Other routes lead to this massive castle complex, for example "Abbots, Counts, Dukes" (route 5). If you want to extend your hike at Weilach and discover some of the numerous other secrets hidden in the forest here, you can explore further "Pfalz Pfade Weilach" from the forest parking lot.

In general:
Especially in autumn, be aware that leaves on the ground, uneven spots, roots, stones, or holes can be hidden. After thunderstorms or heavy rain, trees can still fall or branches can break off afterwards. Particularly in adverse weather conditions, natural paths may have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or rails. Surefootedness is partially required. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you believe certain sections are not passable for you, you should avoid them. Despite the "non-deviating" marking of the premium hiking trails, it is always recommended to have an appropriate hiking map for safety reasons so you can quickly find a safe area in case of thunderstorm or emergency. Path closures and detours must be strictly observed.
Danger situations:
If there is an emergency, quick help is needed. And even if mobile phones can send GPS signals, at classic rescue points it's often fastest. These are located at places that are easily accessible by emergency vehicles. Remember the points with the green signs and a white cross. In an emergency, return there and give the number on the sign when you call for help. This way, rescue workers know where to find you.
Note:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting societies on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations when hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a path closure or detour, please follow the instructions for your own safety.
