This hike can be done as a circular route or as an out-and-back hike to the summit. The mountain drops steeply on the lake side, but it is also doable for hikers with mild fear of heights.
The hike to the summit of Monte Bestone is considered one of the most scenic hikes in Tremosine sul Garda. The panoramic view from the summit over Limone sul Garda and the lake is fantastic. The subpeak is also very beautiful.
The mountain drops steeply on the lake side, but the tour is doable even for hikers with mild fear of heights. There are no directly exposed sections. The second part of the circular route leads back through a shaded forest area to the starting point.
Author’s recommendation
The path is designed as a circular route. From the parking lot at Hotel Le Balze, however, a shorter variant to the summit and back can also be taken.

If you want to hike the route as a circular tour, you will find a small very steep section downhill from the summit. We recommend as an alternative to go back to the next junction and take a right turn twice there.
Sturdy footwear is definitely recommended.
Tips and suggestions
The circular route can basically be started from different points on via Dalco. The starting point at the Hotel Le Balze is suitable for those who want to keep the option open to hike the route only as an out-and-back hike.
Roadbook
Directly above the Hotel Le Balze, a narrow path at the end of the paved road leads onto the mountain ridge that takes us to the summit. The route is easy to find since there are only a few junctions. The path climbs steadily up to the subpeak of Monte Bestone.
Once you reach the subpeak, the summit is already visible. Between the subpeak and the summit, the hiking trail passes over a small saddle through a wooded area. As soon as the path rises again, you have 2 options to reach the destination. You can either continue along the wider path, or take the slightly steeper shortcut to the right through the forest. Both paths meet again after a few hundred meters. The way to the summit is then unmistakable.
Enjoy the view at the summit cross before you start your return journey.
There are essentially 3 alternatives for the way back
If you want to hike the route as a circular tour, you will find a small very steep section downhill from the summit. This path is only recommended for experts. As an alternative, we recommend going back to the next junction and taking a right turn twice there. At this point, the two paths meet again.
The third alternative is to return the same way as you came.
If you choose the circular route, you descend a longer wooded section in switchbacks down to a cow pasture. At the cow pasture, keep left and you will come to the paved but very low-traffic via Dalco, which will bring you back to your starting point.
