One of the most fascinating routes within the Adamello Park.
From the equipped area Pozzolo (1550 m), reachable by car from Edolo, take path 634 to reach a second picnic area,
ignoring the signpost 672 on the left, ascend to the right into the woods. After crossing the enchanting Foppa basin, you overcome a steep gully and reach the signposted junction for Monte Aviolo. The route becomes challenging: alternating ledges, small gullies (beware in case of snow or ice residues, an ice axe and crampons might be useful), and some easy but somewhat exposed climbs, you reach the summit. The view is extraordinary and ranges from the nearby icy bastions of Baitone to the distant Monte Rosa. Descending back to the junction, turning left, you reach the ridge M. Foppa - M. Colmo (beware of some exposed sections on slippery rocks) and descend to the Malga Stain hut. Continuing west, you cross the exceptional terrace next to the hut and enter the forest, returning shortly to the starting point.
