The small circuit around the Neusatz valley takes you to the former Dominican nuns' monastery. After hiking the steep ascent - the small loop into the neighboring Laufbach valley offers a wide view towards Strasbourg - to Heuberg, a look back is worthwhile before you reach the spacious monastery grounds through forest and fields over Fischerberg. Downhill over the sun-drenched north side of the valley shaped by the Muhrbach, you return to the town center.

Starting in the town center, we climb Bitterstweg, cross Prälat Brommer Street and continue uphill along Bitterstweg. Passing the Three Pipes Fountain, the path leads on an asphalted road towards Lauf. At Bruderhöfel, with a unique view over the Rhine plain to the Vosges, we turn left into the forest path and follow it to Heuberg. There a seating area invites you to take a short rest. Continuing uphill, following the yellow rhombus sign at the Hubrütte, we turn left onto Frankenbachweg. We walk this well-maintained forest path to the Fischerberg sign. There we turn left onto the forest road which leads after a short descent to the Way of the Cross. Continuing downhill along the Way of the Cross, over a small crossing, we now walk parallel to Schwarzwaldstraße along cherry trees. The impressive monastery building lies before us, and we cross Schwarzwaldstraße at the traffic light. Here we also find the bus stop. Passing fruit trees, one last look at Neusatzeck Monastery is worthwhile before we enter the forest. Here we take the left path towards Heidenbach further downhill. We can follow the yellow rhombus. Passing the double cross, we come to the Upper Neusatz Haldeweg, where we turn right. At the rear part of the path is an impressive view into the Neusatz valley, with the beautiful local church St. Karl Borromäus in the center, to the right the view sweeps across the Rhine valley on clear days as far as Strasbourg Cathedral. Turning right downhill continues into a narrow path. At Rossgraben, we turn right and cross the parking lot of the sports field, continuing downhill on the Ortenau wine path to the asphalted Otto-Stemmler-Straße. At the level of the fire station, below the water castle, we turn left, pass the bakery, go through the passage at the town hall to the town center and thus back to the starting or finishing point of the hike.
