From this hut in the Karwendel mountains, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the upper Isar valley and the Wetterstein massif opposite.
Mittenwalder Hut (1,518 meters)
You can reach this hut with a dream panorama in about 1.5 to 2 hours on switchbacks through the shady mountain forest. The starting point of the scenic route is the Karwendelbahn in Mittenwald. Opposite the parking lot, the hiking trail begins along the Erzgrube, at the foot of the Karwendel. The path starts winding through the forest. After just under an hour of hiking – at the height of the Leitersteig – it gets a bit steeper. On partly rocky ground, it steadily goes uphill; tricky sections are secured with wire cables. As soon as the short, more difficult section is passed, the panoramic view of Viererspitze, Koflerturm, and Karwendelspitze rewards you. From here, it is only a few more minutes to the Mittenwalder Hut, whose terrace offers impressive views of the village and the Lautersee behind it.
