The start is the parking lot above Asbach. From the elevation profile, you can see that it goes uphill right away. You need a bit of stamina and sure-footedness, and along the route also freedom from dizziness.
This tour is not recommended when wet.
A first magnificent view can be enjoyed at the "Dietzenröder Stein"; both viewpoints should be visited.
We return the same way. It would also be possible through the forest, but this routing is more interesting.
After reaching the turning point again, you soon reach the "Nose." Here you can lie comfortably directly on the cliff in the sun and enjoy the wonderful panorama.
After ample enjoyment, go downhill through the forest along a wide path with a shortcut through the woods. On the broad path again, you cross the Bossebach and climb toward Altenstein ruin.
You can stay on the wide path and comfortably reach the ruin in 5 minutes. You will find a nice rock formation and then climb up a meadow to Altenstein.
The further route can be retraced by the wide path downhill to the left, but we took the small stretch directly on the slope and then returned to the wide path.
Shortly before Asbach, we take a small loop through the forest and are rewarded upon exit with the view of a beautiful meadow landscape. A final resting view offers itself before we return to the starting point.
