Roadbook
The path to the lighthouse leads directly through the primeval Darß Forest, and you definitely can't miss it in Prerow.
After a few kilometers of walking, you will reach the brick-red lighthouse at the remote Darßer Ort. From the top of the lighthouse at 35 meters high, you have a breathtaking view over the Baltic Sea, the ever-changing Darßer Ort, the forest, and nature.
In the lighthouse, you also have the opportunity to visit the Natureum, an external branch of the Stralsund Oceanographic Museum. Here you will find valuable information about the flora and fauna of the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park and the Baltic Sea.
Afterwards, head to the beach! Leave the lighthouse behind and walk along the beach to the right.
A careful look at the ground is worthwhile. Amber, hag stones, or fossil belemnites might be hidden here. The path along the beach behind the fence belongs to the core zone of the Vorpommersche Boddenlandschaft National Park and must not be entered by human feet. Take the narrow path over the dune and let yourself be enchanted by the view of the dune landscape in front of you. Here a boardwalk leads through the landscape – getting lost is impossible.
Please stay on the marked paths, as you are crossing the core zone of the national park. Walk along the path until a small T-junction – to the right leads back to the lighthouse, but you go left to the emergency harbor Darßer Ort. The small idyllic harbor is crossed via a jetty. Right behind it, the dunes open a wide view of the Baltic Sea. For the beach walk back to Prerow, the water-near wash zone is best suited. The wet sand enables easy walking and invites you to collect shells and other driftwood.
