The Lessinia plateau has long been crossed by state borders between different kingdoms, a fact that, as in many mountain areas, led to generations of smugglers operating in the region. The “Strada dei Ladri” (Thieves’ Trail), which forms part of this itinerary, is a reminder of these activities from the past.
Near Malga Maia, after walking a few hundred metres further, you can spot a stand of centuries-old beech trees, including the renowned monumental Beech of the Queen.
