Exciting nature experiences can be discovered on the Rothenberg route. The well over 9-kilometer-long premium route leads over natural forest and rock paths, past idyllic streams and offers great views from the summit of the Rothenberg.
Rated as a premium route by the German hiking seal until December 2021.
A forest-rich route in which attentive observers can discover many things. Interesting shapes and color patterns, which weathering processes have modeled into the red sandstone rocks, as well as idyllic streams in the Rodalb valley accompany the well over 9 km long path. Another highlight of the route is the viewpoint from the summit of the Rothenberg, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view over the Palatinate Forest all the way to the Trifels.
The starting point of the route is the parking lot at the sports ground in Lemberg, from which the premium hiking route is continuously signposted. The white spirit Blizy on a red background shows the way throughout the route.
UFFBASSE! - Campaign for a considerate coexistence in nature
- Behave always proactively, friendly and considerately towards everyone you meet on the way.
- Take care of nature, do not destroy plants and always stay on the paths. Try to avoid excessive noise and leave the forest before dusk.
- Remember to bring a trash bag for the way and take your rubbish back home with you.
- Please keep your dog on a leash at all times. Other visitors and animals will thank you.
- Observe all trail closures for your own safety, even on weekends.
- Park only in designated parking spaces. Leave space for emergency vehicles and agricultural machinery.

General rules apply:
Especially in autumn, it is important to note that fallen leaves on the ground can conceal unevenness, roots, stones or holes in the path. After thunderstorms or rainstorms, trees can still fall or branches may fall afterwards. Especially under adverse weather conditions, natural paths can have muddy and slippery sections. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is required in places. You must expect such path impairments when hiking. If you think certain sections are not passable for you, you should avoid them.
NOTE:
We strive to announce all closures caused by forestry work or hunting societies on this platform. Nevertheless, there are situations where hiking trails are closed and we may not have been informed. If you unexpectedly encounter a trail closure or detour, please heed the instructions for your own safety.
