From Malchen, we cross the Frankenstein through the forest to Nieder-Beerbach. Here we follow the Beerbach south until we ascend the Langenberg again after the old castle. We follow the Alemannenweg and Burgensteig until at the Wassersteinbruch we head westward back through the diverse Malcher Forest.
Those who prefer a slightly longer route with more fields and meadows are recommended the route "From the Bergstraße to the Odenwald": From the Bergstraße to the Odenwald

From Malchen, we follow Frankensteiner Straße into the forest, where a field path leads us up the mountain. Those interested can visit Burg Frankenstein here. Afterwards, we head to Nieder-Beerbach, passing stations of the Frankenstein forest experience and the legendary Lindwurm pond.
After Nieder-Beerbach, we enter the forest again and follow the path south along the Beerbach. The so-called old castle, or what remains of it, can be visited a bit west of the path.
Then we head west, briefly following the road onto the Alemannenweg and then the Burgensteig, which takes us back to the Langenberg. We change paths once to reach Wassersteinbruch and thus the west side of the mountain, from where we return to Malchen via the Wühlmaushotel.
