From Malchen on the northern edge of Bergstraße, the route goes over Frankenstein into the Odenwald. Hikers can expect a balanced mix of fields and forests with great viewpoints and challenging climbs here. Depending on the season, various landscapes appear on the fields and pastures, alternating with larger and smaller forest areas. The route also includes the places Malchen, Nieder-Beerbach, Frankenhausen, and Ober-Beerbach.
Stamina and determination are required, especially when you often already see the next of the numerous small climbs and hills in the rugged Odenwald while you are still descending.
If you prefer something shorter and more forested, you are welcome to try the "Langenberg-Beerbach" route: Langenberg-Beerbach

Tips and suggestions
Some paths are not shown on the map, but the route always follows clearly recognizable country roads or footpaths.
I recorded the route myself, so the path does not always exactly match the paths on the maps (GPS accuracy).
Roadbook
From Malchen we follow Frankensteiner Straße into the forest, where a country road leads us up the hill. Those who want can visit Burg Frankenstein here. Afterwards, we head to Nieder-Beerbach, passing stations of the Frankenstein forest experience and the legendary Lindwurmteich (dragon pond).
After Nieder-Beerbach, we continue to the next hill, from where we follow a forest path north until we meet the Oberer Weg. This leads us down past the Muth fruit farm until we take the next hill eastwards along the quarry. Along the forest edge, it goes southwards to Frankenhausen.
After a short climb, we follow the country road into the forest (on good days you can see the towers of Burg Frankenstein to the northwest), passing by a wind turbine and following the Alemannenweg for a few meters. Past pastures and fields, we then head with a great view towards Ober-Beerbach.
Here we cross the road and follow the forest path until we cautiously follow a short stretch of the main road to Seeheim-Jugenheim, then turn right back into the forest. At Zehn-Wege-Platz, we cross the Alemannenweg again before following the history trail over the Frankenstein massif northwards, passing the log cabin and returning to Malchen.
