Kohltor Loop (low-barrier)
Schönbuch Nature Park offers 16 accessible trails for wheelchair users and families with children.
The trails are well described, so visitors can get an idea of what to expect in advance.
However, it is recommended that visitors be accompanied by a support person.
The Café Fuchsbau at Kohltor near Hildrizhausen is wheelchair accessible (including the outdoor area) and is therefore a suitable starting point for a loop hike. A designated accessible parking space is located right at the café’s entrance. The route first winds through the forest along well-maintained forest trails to the Johannes-Konath Oak natural landmark and then returns to the starting point via a paved dirt road with views of Hildrizhausen and Altdorf. A bench near the Johannes-Konath Oak is accessible to people with disabilities.
There are two barriers along the route, but they can be easily bypassed. Alternatively, you can choose the parking lot at Stellenhäusle as your starting point (no designated accessible parking space, but the ground is well-paved); this extends the loop by 0.5 km.
