The starting point for the short walk is the town center of Sachsenburg. Coming from the market square, turn right before the drugstore and after a few steps you will reach a distinctive wayside shrine. Here the Way of the Cross to the chapel begins. Passing 10 Way of the Cross stations, you walk to the third oldest Calvary site in Carinthia. Step by step you ascend above the roofs of Sachsenburg to the chapel. The first installation on the fortress hill was erected between 1727 and 1733. After its destruction by the French in 1813, it was renovated and re-consecrated in 1814. The last major renovation took place from 1977 to 1978. The return route is either back via the Way of the Cross or down the steep stairs directly to the town.
