Holtmühlen Trail - Light.Hiking.World.
The Holtmühlen Trail is a 1.2 km long hiking trail that, except for the section parallel to the mill pond watercourse, leads exclusively through the forest. The forest is divided into very different areas. In addition to extensive pine forests, there are smaller plots with older and also younger deciduous forests as well as small ponds. The Holtmühle, originally established in 1397 as an oil and grain mill, is one of a considerable number of water mills in the Wegberg area that shaped the region from the 13th century onwards and were an important economic factor. To optimally use the water power, people created mill ponds, thereby increasing the water pressure on the mill wheels. This also gave rise to the Holtmühlenweiher, which still represents a beautiful example of this.

A mill breakfast or a piece of cake in the café by the lake rounds off a successful hike with a delightful stopover.
