Hike on the Nesselwang local mountain in Nesselwang
This route is the classic among mountain hikes in the Nesselwang Alpspitz area, interesting for the whole family.
On the forest and root path along the Nesselwang waterfall, children especially have their fun. Adults enjoy the magnificent view of the Tannheimer and Ammergau mountains and culinary delights at Sportheim Böck and Kappeler Alp. The pilgrimage church Maria Trost invites you to a short reflective stop.
On the ascent, there are several forks that allow flexible shorter route variations.
Author’s recommendation
Those who want summit experiences can hike the Alpspitze (30 min.) or the Edelsberg (45 min.) from the Sportheim Böck or attach the circular hike on Alpspitze and Edelsberg.

Roadbook
From the upper end of the Alpspitzbahn parking lot, start on a wide path towards the forest. After the small bridge, take the path to the right towards the waterfall, which you will reach after about 5 minutes. Climb steeply up numerous stair steps, then the terrain becomes flatter again. Via the left fork to the Nesselburg ruins, the first option for a descent back into the valley would already be possible. Warning: The waterfall path is partly equipped with metal grating floors. Some dogs dislike these gratings or are afraid of them and will not walk over them!
Soon after, you reach the fork to the right uphill for the option to Kronenhütte.
The route continues straight ahead to the wayside cross, where you have two more variation options: left over the Lower Alm and the pilgrimage church Maria Trost back into the valley, or right to the mid-station of the Alpspitzbahn with the Enzianstube.
The route continues uphill to the Sportheim Böck. Here opens a magnificent view of the Tannheimer and Ammergau mountains and the Zugspitze.
From this highest point of the route, there is for the descent the option via Alpspitze and Alpspitzgrat. To follow the current route suggestion, however, you descend on a wide path to Kappeler Alp, where a last view of the summit ridge is worth it. Just after the hut, turn left to the pilgrimage church Maria Trost and follow the Stations of the Cross downhill back to the Alpspitzbahn parking lot.
