High trail

We start at the parking lot in Schornbach. Marked as a circular hiking trail, this tour is ideal for walking in both directions. The orchards so typical of the Rems Valley unfold their charm at any time of year. In spring you walk through flowering gardens, in the height of summer the trees are full of apples and pears and in autumn the colors of the foliage shine once again.

Information boards along the way tell you a lot about the valuable habitat provided by this mixture of meadows and fruit trees: Birds feel just as much at home here as insects and every hiker can feel the beneficial effects of this unique cultural landscape for themselves.

The closer you get to Berglen-Streich, the small village on the mountain, the more numerous the plum trees seem to become. The sweet blue fruit hangs enticingly from the trees in the fall and is not only good for biting into or as a fruity topping on a delicious cake: up in Streich, you have literally arrived in a stronghold of schnapps distillation. The Streicher people know how to distil high-proof spirits from the fruits of their homeland.

At the Ellenberg vantage point, you can combine the beautiful view with a leisurely break. At the Wasserturm vantage point, you are rewarded with a view across to the Kaiserberge mountains.

Specialties from home-style and Swabian cuisine can be found in the Gasthaus Lamm from Monday to Sunday (Wednesday is a day off).
