The hike starts at the valley end of the largest side valley of the Großarltal - in Ellmautal at the Grundlehen parking lot. On a rustic alpine trail, the path first leads through the forest, then over wide alpine meadows to Ellmaualm. You will pass Großellmau-Heimalm, which is not operated. At the top at Ellmaualm you will not only enjoy a wonderful panoramic view up to Hochkönig, but also a very good snack with homemade delicacies such as bread, butter, cheese, sausage or bacon. There is a small but nice playground for children. Then you continue leisurely along the Salzburger Almenweg past the Henerbichlalm (not operated) and finally to the Trögseen. These "lakes" are small mountain lakes that are especially refreshing for the feet in midsummer. The return route goes back to Ellmaualm and then to the Grundlehen parking lot, the starting point of the route.
