From an originally smaller medieval seat in Svätý Kríž, the archbishops of Esztergom made a summer residence, later with strong fortifications and bastions. At the height of its fame, it was the seat of the bishops of Banská Bystrica, the most notable being Štefan Moyzes. Today, the Renaissance-Baroque Bishop's Manor is owned by the town of Žiar nad Hronom.
The manor is not permanently open to the public. You can view it from the outside or during set opening hours. The parking lot is located below the manor. Take a walk through the park near the manor or go for an easy hike to Šibeničný Hill in the Kremnica Hills, which takes about 1.5 hours.
The park near the manor attracts visitors with a mini zoo, playgrounds with ropeways, ponds, and benches for relaxation.

Šibeničný Hill
Following the asphalt road, you reach the meadow summit (with a possibility for barbecuing) offering beautiful views of the town Žiar nad Hronom, which is surrounded by the Kremnica and Štiavnica Hills as well as the Vtáčnik mountain range. The aluminum cross installed there points to the town's aluminum tradition. A natural curiosity is the oval stones, so-called “valúny,” which the Prahron river supposedly brought here centuries ago (from the Low Tatras or the Slovak Ore Mountains).
