Author’s recommendation
Although, as already in Stage 1, large parts are covered by public transport, good physical condition is necessary for the ascent to Schöckl with about 700 meters of altitude gain; optionally, the cable car can of course be used.
On weekends, the Stubenberghaus and Alpengasthof are usually overcrowded; in this case, switch to the Johann-Waller-Hütte.

The route begins, as already in Stage 1, at the main square, after a short walk through Herrengasse with a turn eastward towards Opernring, it goes from the Rosarium stop with bus line 250 towards St. Radegund.
Hiking trail 21 starts east of the St. Radegund cable car bus stop and leads after crossing Schöcklstraße, lift route and toll road via the Halterhütte to the Stubenberghaus. From there it is only a few steps towards the cable car mountain station to the Alpengasthof Schöckl, where the stamp box is located. At Schöckl, it is recommended to take a break in one of the inns, combined with a refreshment for the upcoming descent.
The descent proceeds via Westgipfel and Schneid on hiking trail 20, with another rest possibility at the Johann-Waller-Hütte. Hiking trail 20 continues south, past the Steinernes Haus, to the flood retention basin, where the junction to hiking trail 20a is located.
Follow this to Kalkleitenstraße, from there you have a wonderful view over Graz as well as to Fürstenstand and the Gösting ruin. After a short asphalt section, hiking trail 20a branches southwest into the forest and ends at the Stattegg Fuß der Leber bus stop.
Take bus line 53 to the Andritz stop and from there to the pedestrian crossing of the Schöcklbach, at the beginning of hiking trail 85 on Pfeifferhofweg. Follow Pfeifferhofweg to the Hans-Auer-Gasse junction, there the hiking trail branches east into the forest. Follow the trail to the upper Plattenweg, along it and at the Sonnleitenweg junction over the Plattensteig to the final stamp box near the Stephanienwarte.
From here the descent takes place via hiking trail 85 crossing the Janischhofweg at Obstbau Pölzer and from there through the orchard to the upper end of Rettenbachklamm.
The Rettenbachklamm should only be entered if the weather conditions allow it; otherwise, a descent via hiking trail 85b (Rabensteinersteig) to Mariatrost is the more sensible option. At the lower end of Rettenbachklamm, follow the Steingrabenweg, which leads to the Mariatrosterstraße from which the tram stop Waldhof is not far away.

Equipment
Hiking boots as well as sufficient water and provisions, since both ascent and descent of Schöckl with about 2.5 hours each and 700/1000 meters of altitude in ascent/descent are time-consuming.Localization
