The summer resort of Rosenburg, known far beyond the borders of the country, with its dozens of Wilhelminian-style villas, lies in the valley of the Kamp, overlooked by the castle of the same name. The original castle from the 12th century was part of the Babenberg chain of fortifications; in the Renaissance it was given its final appearance, which has been preserved to this day, with the largest tournament court in Central Europe. You can see crossbows, knights' armor, rifles, cannons, ... and in summer, fine theater at the summer night comedy. The falconers' bird of prey demonstrations are particularly spectacular. A high ropes course has been set up in the adjacent forest for the younger generation. The baroque Maria Dreieichen pilgrimage church with its famous dome painting by Paul Troger is one of the most beautiful in Austria. The basilica is a destination for thousands of pilgrims every year.

As a souvenir of your hike on the Grasel circular route in the Waldviertel, you can get a hiking badge from the Renaissance Castle at the ticket office in Rosenburg Renaissance Castle.

Hiking badges are round plaques designed and inscribed by wood burning, which serve as souvenirs and at the same time as awards for outstanding achievements. Roadbook

From the Knell guesthouse in Mold you head towards Mörtersdorf. The path takes you on field paths, from which you have a beautiful view over the Horn basin in the direction of Rosenburg, into the forest, where after a short time you have to cross a small stream and then continue on a field path towards Mörtersdorf. There you can either stop at the Graselwirtin guesthouse or continue through the underpass of the B4 towards the pilgrimage site Maria Dreieichen. The hiking trail leads you almost exclusively through beautiful forests that occasionally offer opportunities for a rest or, if the time is right, for mushroom picking. First, you go a little uphill, then pretty level towards Maria Dreieichen. There you can visit the pilgrimage church and enjoy culinary delights at the Vlasaty guesthouse or continue straight back towards Mold. After Maria Dreieichen, you soon go steeply downhill through the forest, then continue along the edge of the forest. From here you have a magnificent panoramic view of the Horn basin. With a bit of luck, you can enjoy a picturesque sunset there in the evening. The last meters lead you back on field paths to Mold, where you have the opportunity to end the day with a good meal in the garden of the Knell guesthouse.
