The loop trail takes you around and through Göcklingen, past ten stations with information panels about historical and scenic highlights as well as points of interest around the town.
UFFBASSE! – Campaign for considerate coexistence in nature
- Be considerate on the trail —always act thoughtfully, kindly, and considerately toward everyone you meet along the way. This is especially important on farm roads, where winemakers, farmers, and foresters work even on weekends.
- Picnics & Trash – Remember to bring a trash bag with you and take your trash home with you. Use only the designated rest areas for breaks and picnics.
- Keep Dogs on a Leash—Please always keep your dog on a leash. Other visitors and animals will appreciate it.
We—your fellow visitors and nature—thank you!

Safety information
Use of Farm Roads —Our tours through the vineyards often follow paths that we share with others. We therefore ask that everyone be considerate and friendly toward one another at all times. Winemakers, farmers, and foresters use these farm roads through fields, forests, and vineyards for their daily work—including on weekends. Due to work activities and/or weather conditions, the roads may occasionally be dirtier than usual. Especially in winter, there may be slippery or icy sections. Extra caution is also required when crossing roads in and around the villages of the Palatinate. Road closures and detours must be strictly observed.Dangerous Situations — If an emergency arises, quick assistance is essential. And even though cell phones can transmit GPS signals, the traditional emergency points are often the fastest way to get help. These are located in spots that are easily accessible to emergency vehicles. Make a note of the locations marked with green signs and a white cross. In an emergency, return to one of these locations and provide the number on the sign when you call for help. This way, emergency responders will know where to find you.

Roadbook
Follow the signs to the “Alte Tongrube” biotope pond (2nd stop), which was created in the 1970s and 1980s through clay mining. Don’t skip this detour, because at the biotope pond you can enjoy a magnificent view of the lake and some peace and quiet. After a short break by the water, follow the path back to the bridge, cross the Kaiserbach once more, and follow the trail along the Kaiserbach to the panoramic bench and a sandstone staircase ( 3rd stop), which leads down to the stream. Are you brave enough to cool your feet and feel the sand in the stream bed beneath your soles?
Continue along the Kaiserbach, then through Mühlgasse back into town. Now you’ll pass the Evangelical Church, built in 1788–89 in the Neoclassical style (4th stop), the historic town hall—which was built as a schoolhouse in the 19th century—and the Catholic church behind it, also built in the Neoclassical style in 1791, and through the Laurentiusgarten ( 5th stop). Before long, you’ll be back on the outskirts of town.
Carefully cross the country road and immerse yourself in the sea of vines at the Kaiserberg vineyard. Climb up through the vineyards and take a short detour to Moser’s Fountain (Station 6). From the bench, you can enjoy the view of the village and the sound of the fountain trickling before continuing your ascent to the Setzerberg ( Station 7). At the spot where the rest area is located today, there used to be a toll station on this high-altitude trail. The name “Setzerberg” comes from the fact that the toll was “set” here. Today, you’re more likely to find yourself stuck here, enjoying the view.
The trail now continues on relatively flat ground to the bench on the Flehnsberg (8th stop), and from here it descends again to the country road, which you’ll cross. You’ll continue walking through fields and meadows to the cemetery and the 18th-century wayside chapel (9th station) on the outskirts of town. Through the vineyards and over the Kieselberg ( 10th station), the trail leads back to the Kaiserberghalle, the start and end point of the tour.

Sturdy footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, sun and rain protection, and a sufficient supply of food and—above all—drinks should be packed in your backpack for every hike, as places to stop for refreshments or shops may not be available or open everywhere. Although the trail is marked throughout, you should always carry a suitable map or a hiking app with you for safety reasons.Human-created
