Barrier-free hiking through the Elmpter Schwalmbruch nature reserve
Starting at the Tackenbenden parking lot, the route leads over well-maintained paths past green meadows and pastures interspersed with hedges and pollarded willows. If you follow the path to the right, after about 2 km, visitors will already reach the first highlight. In the middle of the Gagelmoor, an 80-meter-long barrier-free boardwalk crosses a moor water body. Here, one can observe the typical plants and animals of moor waters up close. It is also one of the 25 Water.Views of the nature park. The path continues through the Gagelmoor, past other moor waters and old Schwalm oxbows, with a view of the lower-lying renatured Schwalm. With some luck, you might see the shimmering kingfisher here. In the middle, the landscape opens up to small heath areas.
Author’s recommendation
Enjoy the afternoon sun on the barrier-free boardwalk, watch the dragonflies at play, and listen to the concert of the frogs.
