Walter Biselli
From Hausen im Tal, we hike downstream on the Danube Valley Trail to Beuron. Along the way, we first enjoy the view of Werenwag Castle, which towers high above the Danube. It is inhabited by members of the House of Fürstenberg. On the opposite side, the Wildenstein Castle dominates the Danube gorge valley. Today it is a popular romantic youth hostel. On the Umlaufberg Käpfle, we can visit the Maurus Chapel. It was built from 1868 to 1870 in Egyptian style. Above it lies the Benedictine Cave, a replica of the hermitage of Saint Benedict of Nursia. The highlight of the short hike is the Benedictine Archabbey Beuron.

Roadbook
The starting point of the route hike is the Hausen im Tal train station. Heading towards the Beuron district, we approach the Danube bridge and cross the river. On the opposite side, we follow the Danube Valley Trail to the right, always downstream close to the riverbank. Along the way, we first enjoy the view of Werenwag Castle, which towers high over the Danube on the right side. We cross it at the Danube house via a suspension bridge to the Umlaufberg Käpfle. Opposite it lies the Wildenstein Castle on a mountain spur. Directly on the hiking trail stands the impressive St. Maurus Chapel. A short detour leads to the Benedictine Cave above it. Shortly after, we pass the modern small hydroelectric power plant of the Beuron Monastery and reach the portal of the Käpfle tunnel of the Danube Valley railway. Between the Danube and the road, we follow the Hunter's Path through low rock tunnels until shortly before Sonnenhaus we reach the road again. On the Hermann-Steg, we cross the Danube one last time. Before returning by train, a visit to the Monastery Church in Beuron is always worthwhile.
