Along the Fulda, Solz, and Breizebach
The circular hiking trail leads you from Bad Hersfeld past Kathus to Friedewald. Here you can enjoy the peace and nature of Forest Hesse. On the way, you will encounter Fulda, Solz, and Breitzbach. Along the route, you pass the Kathus Seeloch, the former observatory, as well as the water castle and the Friedewald local history museum. The return route leads via the singer's hut as well as the districts of Petersberg and Sorga back to the starting point.

Roadbook
The start is at the Aqua-Fit indoor pool in Bad Hersfeld. Heading north, you will meet the hiking trail +36 and follow it to the Oberrode estate and further to Kathus. From here, you continue for a short stretch on the Lulluspfad 55 before returning to +36 and following it to Friedewald. Passing the Göbels Castle Hotel and the water castle ruins, you follow this to Sorga. Here you switch back to the Lulluspfad 55 and follow it through the district of Petersberg until the starting point at AquaFit in Bad Hersfeld is reached again.

The starting point AquaFit can be reached by city bus line 3 as well as line 345.
Other stops along the circular route are served by line 341 as well as city buses 3 and 7.
The AquaFit indoor pool is about a 10-minute walk from the station. Leave the station and walk north towards Friedloser Straße. Then turn left onto Am Schwimmbad Straße, and you will see the AquaFit indoor pool on the right side.
Directions
If you are coming by car, you can take different routes depending on your starting point. You can use either motorway A4, federal roads B27 or B62 to get to Bad Hersfeld.
From motorway A4:
- Exit the A4 at Bad Hersfeld-West (No. 33) if coming from the west, or at Bad Hersfeld (No. 32) if coming from the east.
- After leaving the motorway, drive towards Bad Hersfeld/centre on federal road B27.
- Follow B27 for about 5 kilometers and take the exit towards Bad Hersfeld/centre.
- At the exit, turn left and follow the road (L3172) towards the city centre.
- Follow the road for about 2 kilometers until you reach Friedloser Straße. Turn right there.
- Follow Friedloser Straße for about 500 meters until you reach Am Schwimmbad Straße. Turn left.
- After a few meters, you will see the AquaFit indoor pool on the right side. There are plenty of parking spaces nearby where you can park your car.
From the city centre:
- Leave the city centre northwards on Friedloser Straße.
- Follow Friedloser Straße for about 1.5 kilometers.
- At the intersection, turn right onto Am Schwimmbad Straße.
- Follow Am Schwimmbad Straße for about 200 meters.
- After this short stretch, you will reach the AquaFit indoor pool on the right.
Parking
On Kolpingstraße there is a "P+R" parking lot, which is only a few minutes' walk from the starting point of the hike.
