Zwischen Wald und Alb
The hiking trail leads from the valley of the Stoffelbach up to the heights of the Swabian Alb through a geologically and botanically varied area. A steep ascent and descent takes you over paved and gravel paths up to the "Kaltes Feld," where a cozy forest path past heathland offers great views over the wide land and the Drei-Kaiser-Berge.
Because of its location, this hike is very diverse in terms of flora and fauna. Particularly in the "Kaltes Feld" area and its surroundings, you will find special plants in the heathland and dry grasslands that can only grow here. These include various gentians, silver thistles, and juniper bushes, which shape the landscape's appearance.

Roadbook
The starting point is the hiking parking lot in Weilerstoffel. Not far from there stands the Patrizius Chapel. It is dedicated to St. Patrizius, the patron saint of farmers. The hiking trail initially leads steeply uphill and merges into the so-called Saurenweg, which then leads to the right hand side to Hornberg. At the junction with the Saurenweg is the "Donesbauer Cross." The path is completely paved from Weilerstoffel to Hornberg. The section towards Tannweiler is no longer used for hiking. At Hornberg, it goes right past the gliding airfield towards the ascent to Kaltes Feld. Above the gliding airfield, you hike left or eastward and reach the road that leads to Knörzerhaus. The next destination is the Franz-Keller-Haus, located in the middle of a beautiful juniper heath. After a short forest section, you reach the descent to Reiterleskapelle. Before that, you can enjoy the view from Christentalfelsen into the Fils and Lauter valleys far beyond Göppingen. The Reiterleskapelle is dedicated to St. Leonhard and is one of Waldstetten's most important landmarks. From the Reiterleskapelle, the hiking trail goes downhill to Tannweiler and back to the starting point in Weilerstoffel.
