EP2 - Wanderdreiklang Eppingen

The medium round in the Eppinger Wanderdreiklang starts at Villa Waldeck at the hiking car park. The garden terrace with a beautiful children's playground is also recommended for the final stop.

The first intermediate station is the Himmelsleiter. An impressive climb in the Eppingen forest with 202 steps, which leads from the Philosophenweg up to the Baumannshütte. 

Further along the route, the tour meets the Eppinger Line - similar to the Limes, an old defensive system with ramparts and ditches with watchtowers (Chartaque). The Eppinger Lines were built in 1695/97 by the "Türkenlouis" Margrave Wilhelm of Baden to protect against the French.

With a short detour, the viewpoint "Kraichgaublick" can be reached. From here you have a beautiful view over Eppingen deep into the Kraichgau and to the Odenwald. The small wooden platform with benches invites you to rest or have a picnic.

Next, the route continues over the 310m high Ottilienberg, the Eppingen local mountain. Generations of Eppingen residents have considered the mountain a popular destination for a Sunday excursion.

From Ottilienberg, the path goes down to Jägersee. Passing the Essigberg viewpoint, which also offers a nice view, you return to the starting point, the hiking car park.
