Exciting natural and cultural landscape in the Enz valley. The hike leads through the magnificent area of wine and rock between Vaihingen and Mühlacker.

The Stromberg is bounded to the south by the Enz valley. While the Stromberg is dominated by the gentle, rounded landscape forms of the Keuper hills, the Enz valley between Mühlacker and Vaihingen appears rather rugged, a valley cut into the Muschelkalk plateau. Here one can experience the creative interplay of natural forces and sunlit rock. The Enz loop near Mühlhausen is a landscape peculiarity. Here the Enz has cut up to 80 m deep into the hard Muschelkalk layers. The slopes are terraced and have been planted with vines for over 900 years. A particularly beautiful overview of the landscape is seen from the “Enzblick” viewpoint. Around the unique historical terraced vineyards of the Roßwag hill, which surround the old village center with its half-timbered houses like an amphitheater, the situation would be dire if there were no wine cooperative in Vaihingen-Roßwag. The cooperative winery Rosswag-Mühlhausen is committed to preserving this exceptional cultural landscape. Hiking in the rock terraces high above Roßwag and Mühlhausen is hiking in the footsteps of wine.

    Roadbook

Cross the Enz bridge, briefly uphill, then turn right into Stegwiesenstraße. Directly behind the two houses, the nature reserve begins. Follow the blue cross and Enz loop trail. Through a small forest, then idyllically along the forest edge. Then the path turns sharply left and leads steeply upwards (HW 10) (1). Birdsong inspires the hiker. Follow the asphalt path straight uphill along the forest edge, then turn right at the next path (without trail sign) to a water reservoir and a viewing bench. Continue straight on the ridge, then keeping right into the forest to an antenna mast. Continue to the Hörnleshütte hut (2). From here straight ahead, serpentine downhill to the Fuchswechsel (3). Downhill to the next intersection – here a blue diamond, take Köplesweg to the right. After a few meters, another junction. Now follow the yellow/blue/yellow mark downhill left. Houses are already visible ahead, shortly before them turn right. Now follow the blue cross again, enter the forest and follow the gentle ups and downs above the Enz to a large intersection. Turn left onto the wide asphalt path (HW 10) and follow the blue diamond. Pass the Weidachhütte with barbecue area and beautiful resting benches (4). Follow the asphalt road until it descends right to the Enz bridge. After the Enz bridge (5) turn left. Continue along the river, passing information panels about the Enzaue nature reserve. The educational trail continues along the dam to the club house Mühlhausen (refreshments). Walk along the asphalt path by the sports field, return briefly parallel to the dam, then immediately turn left onto Rebenweg. Pass Mühlhausen Castle and continue uphill. Above on the right, on a beautiful panoramic trail (6) directly along the vineyard walls. Below you can see the Enz loop, as well as vineyards and rocks on the facing slope and meadows on the sliding slope. The information panels explain a lot about the vineyard, the area, and the animals living here. Go to the road, 200 m to the right, then right again following the yellow/blue/yellow mark. Additionally with the red cross along the slope back to the road. Shortly before it, turn right onto the asphalt path beside the road, then cross the road to the hiking parking lot (7). Cross the parking lot and then turn right. Without marking, continue straight until vineyard steps appear on the right (8). With the HW 10 hiking sign and Enz loop circular trail they lead directly down to Roßwag.
