Ellegghöhe

The leisurely hike leads us on sunny paths between wide meadows from Wertach up to the Ellegghöhen. From there we have a magnificent view of Wertach, the Grüntensee, and the Allgäu and Tyrolean mountain landscapes. Worth seeing are the two chapels along the way: the small chapel in Gereute was built as early as 1717, and the Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers in Oberellegg features a particularly beautiful altar. The circular hike mainly runs on wide, paved paths and is well suited for pleasure hikers and families. Nordic walkers also feel comfortable here. There are dining possibilities in Oberellegg at the mountain inn Ellegghöhe and at the inn Alpenblick, or to conclude the circular hike in Wertach.

A popular variant is the ascent through the Schießbachtobel. The ravine path begins at the barbecue area north of Wertach and leads uphill along the Peterlesbach. Over bridges and stairs, hikers climb through the narrow gorge with the rushing stream. The upper end of the ravine is marked by a small waterfall. Especially in summer, the shaded Schießbachtobel is pleasantly cool. However, after rainfall, the route should be avoided as the paths can quickly become slippery or muddy.
