In 1935 Franz Tumler published the story of Lausa and Duron. Duron; in it, he worked on the theme of the Fanes saga, but shifted it but relocated it to the First World War. The story leads to a (Ladin) brother and sister who lose their homeland during these years who lose their homeland during these years, as they are caught up in the fronts between Italy, to which they do not feel they belong. In a postscript 50 years later, Tumler wrote about the the background to the creation of the story: "What I did not want to give up I did not want to give up was this image of a woman who was native here, I had invented; I read a Ladin legend and found a name for her in it. found a name for her in it. I then looked at the map for the path I had taken at that time. But I mixed up the names of the valleys - I had gone through the Val Udaj, as I later discovered. Val Udaj, but thought it had been the Duron Valley, now kept that name, and sensed something in the sound of it which something in the sound of it that set me in motion with my ideas of it, so that that when I look back I think: it was the right name. ... I had a map next to it and searched for other names on it and found other names and found the name of a group of rocks near the Duron Valley of a group of rocks: Crepes de Lausa. I thought of the two names together: Lausa and Duron, and I wrote them down on this torn torn out sheet of paper".
