Take a leisurely stroll and enjoy the first splashes of color of the year. This loop trail takes you along idyllic riverbanks, where numerous daffodils bloom in the spring. The yellow blossoms add beautiful accents to the awakening landscape and accompany you for a stretch on your way through the floodplains. The gentle murmur of the water and the sight of these harbingers of spring make the route a lovely destination for a short break in nature.
An important note about the route: When planning your trip, please note that the actual main route —which focuses on the daffodils—is only about 4 kilometers long. This is the classic loop for anyone who specifically wants to see the flower-filled spots. However, the GPX file provided here covers a longer hike: The track takes you beyond the core route and adds a beautiful loop around Lake Borner. This way, you can decide for yourself whether you want to do just the short “flower loop” or extend the tour into a more extensive hike.

Roadbook
Turn right at the parking lot. At the end of the lot, there is a wooden bridge that you cross. Then turn left. The sunken path leads between the “Schwalm” River and a canal. Daffodils line your path on the right. Cross several more wooden bridges until you reach the second path on the left. This path winds through the grounds of the “Vennmühle” until it crosses the street “In der Haag.” Here, turn right and follow the former railroad track. Daffodils line your path on the left. At the former train station in Born—marked by a stop signal and a small mine car adorned with plenty of daffodils—you can decide whether you’d like to return to the starting point or continue hiking another kilometer around Borner Lake.
If you’d like to return to the starting point now, turn right, walk past Lake Born until you reach the fork in the trail. Here, turn right toward the Schwalm Bridge. Cross the bridge. The trail leads to the left past the Born Mill, lined with daffodils along the Laarer Bach. Cross the B221, follow the paved path and the daffodils to Klosterstraße. Turn right here, cross Klosterstraße, and walk past Torschänke and Brüggener Mühle back to your starting point.
If you’d prefer to hike another kilometer, follow the path and the daffodils to the first footpath on the right. This path takes you directly along the shore of Lake Borner. Unfortunately, there are no more daffodils here, as planting them was not permitted. Nevertheless, the wonderful view over Borner See is well worth it once you cross the two wooden footbridges on the right. The trail leads to the Schwalm River. Here, turn right and follow the river until you reach the second bridge;
then cross it. The trail leads left past the Borner Mill, lined with daffodils along the Laarer Bach. Cross the B221, follow the paved path and the daffodils to Klosterstraße. Turn right here, cross Klosterstraße, and walk past the Torschänke and the mill back to your starting point.
