Cima Mughera (Mughera Peak) is one of the most panoramic peaks of Lake Garda.
It can be accessed directly from the centre of Limone sul Garda through the Valle del Singol and then on the steep trail 101, where you can admire a breathtaking view of Lake Garda from north to south!
From here, you go to the right and walk along the beautiful walk along the San Giovanni stream, a very picturesque walk that, among small waterfalls and pools of water, reaches the locality La Milanesa where there is a trattoria and also a small car park.
Cross the small bridge on the left, and you arrive at a point where several trails branch off (200 m).
Take number 101 on the right, also known as Sentiero Antonioli, a dirt road that climbs steeply and enters the Val del Singol.
After a few minutes, you pass by (on the left) a picturesque waterfall and a few hairpin bends. Ignore the signs for the Cima Mughera trail for experts, and continue straight until you reach a calchera, an ancient furnace used for making lime (signs and information). There is also a table and benches, ideal for resting a bit and admiring a beautiful view of the lake in the distance.
Still climbing on the dirt road, a little further on, you reach a crossroads of trails located 2.5 km from the La Milanesa area. Take trail 101 Cima Mughera Sentiero Normale on the right (still 1h20 of walking) and start climbing a small path immersed in the woods until you approach the highest part of the mountain.
Every now and then, you get a good view of the peaks around the Val del Singol - Monte Carone, the wildest part of this walk, but it is nothing like the views at the top.
Still in the woods, you arrive at another crossroads with a sign for Cima Mughera in 5 minutes.
One last effort uphill, and you reach an observation point with a table and benches where you have an incredible view of Lake Garda!
But don't be fooled. The summit is still a few metres higher and is reached by a short path leading us to this hike's goal at an altitude of 1161 metres!
Here the view sweeps over most of Lake Garda and all of Monte Baldo. Limone is below our feet, and Sirmione and the Moreniche hills are in the distance! Don't forget your camera!
The return is along the same trail as the outward journey.
