The Burghalder Way hiking trail leads from the starting point at the Wasgau outdoor pool uphill past beautiful rock formations such as the Lanzenfahrter Rock and, of course, the rock that gave the path its name, the Burghalder. On the rock, the remains of the former refuge castle that once stood there are still visible. The ascent is worthwhile; you have a wonderful view from the top. Continue past the Wolfsfelsen to the PWV hiking lodge "Dicke Eiche." A rest here is definitely recommended. From the lodge, a zigzag path leads down to the Queich spring and into the valley of the same name. The hike passes the paddle pond and through the Altwiesen Park back to the starting point at the Wasgau outdoor pool.

UFFBASSE! - Campaign for a considerate coexistence in nature

Hiking, walking, strolling, cycling, mountain biking, climbing, trekking, picnicking, forest bathing, chilling, and stopping to eat. Vacation and leisure activities in the fresh air should be fun and, above all, relaxing. This works best when we treat ourselves, other people, and nature carefully and attentively. SO: PAY ATTENTION AND THINK AHEAD! Be considerate of everyone on the way and especially of nature, so that we can still enjoy it in the distant future.

At www.pfalz.de/uffbasse we have listed some behavioral tips for considerate and careful coexistence.

    Safety information

Despite the marking of the hiking trails, for safety reasons we recommend always carrying an appropriate hiking map so that you can quickly find a safe area, for example, during a thunderstorm or an emergency.

Especially in autumn, be aware that fallen leaves on the ground can conceal unevenness, roots, stones, or holes in the path. After storms, trees can still fall or branches may break off. In adverse weather conditions, natural paths can become muddy and slippery. You must expect such path impairments when taking a hike. Not all rocks or cliffs are secured with ropes or railings. Surefootedness is sometimes required. If you think certain path sections are impassable, you should avoid them.

In snowy and icy conditions, caution is generally advised even on premium hiking trails!

From the parking lot, go past the Wasgau outdoor pool. Turn right into the Weidentälchen. Turn right again uphill to the Lanzenfahrter Rock. Continue steeply uphill right next to the rock. Upon reaching the ridge height, continue right in an S-curve to the Burghalder Rock. Turn right on this rock and return to the junction on the main path. At about the same height, continue to the Benz-Hohen Kopf. Descend into the saddle between Hoher Kopf and Wolfshorn. Continue past the Dümpfelturm and on to the Wolfsfelsen. Uphill to the PWV hiking lodge "Dicke Eiche." Behind the PWV hut, a somewhat hidden zigzag path leads down to the Queich spring. Pass the Queich spring and go straight through the Queich valley past the paddle pond. Continue straight ahead past the paddle pond to the first houses. Turn right, past the former mini-golf course, through the Altwiesen Park back to the starting point at the Wasgau outdoor pool parking lot.

    Equipment

Sturdy footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, sun and rain protection, as well as sufficient supplies of food and drinks, should be brought if no dining or shopping options are available or open. Although the path is very well marked throughout, for safety reasons one should always carry a suitable hiking map.
