On the hiking trail awarded as a quality route by the German Hiking Association, hikers enjoy the pristine landscape around the Great and Small Jasmund Bodden.
Away from the tourist hotspots, the path leads over natural, marked trails across lush meadows, through quiet forests, and sometimes high up. Many animal species can be observed in the air and on the water. Sea eagles are also native to the Bodden region and can be observed with a bit of luck. From the quaint village of Neuenkirchen, the Bodden Panorama Way leads hikers initially parallel to the shore of the Tetzitzer See to Groß Banzelvitz. Then it passes by Castle Ralswiek, the natural beach in Lietzow, and finally along the Small Jasmund Bodden over partially steep terrain to Mukran.

On the barrier-free treetop path of the RÜGEN Nature Heritage Center, you can move eye-to-eye with the mighty crowns of primeval beech trees.

Roadbook
The starting point of the route is the quaint village of Neuenkirchen. From the Gothic Maria-Magdalena Church with Rügen's oldest bell, island vacationers hike eastwards to Laase up to the bridge over the Liddower Strom.
Passing the cultural heritage site Liddow, which invites visitors to stop regularly for art exhibitions, the path always leads parallel to the shore of the Tetzitzer See into the Banzelvitz Mountains, which rise up to 45 meters high. From the pine-covered steep banks, the view always sweeps over the impressive Great Jasmund Bodden. In Groß Banzelvitz, a forest adventure trail invites you to experience nature with all your senses.
From Groß Banzelvitz, the path winds along reed belts and across extensive meadows with gentle ups and downs to the Buchberg. At the castle Ralswiek, situated with a view on the hillside, hikers can dine royally and enjoy the majestic Bodden view. In summer, the legendary Störtebeker Festival takes place on the natural stage at the foot of the hill. Also worth seeing is the landscaped park around the Neo-Renaissance castle. The path leads right through this dendrological gem, past pyramid oaks, plane trees, and tulip trees to the village of Ralswiek with its thatched houses and lively harbor.
The next highlight of the route is the Black Mountains. Along the shaded forest path lie over 400 significant Slavic burial mounds. In the warm season, the natural beach at Lietzow tempts you to take a dip in the cool water. A detour is worthwhile to the Semper forest park with its neo-baroque castle, eerie witches’ forest, and historic water tower ruin.
At the Small Jasmund Bodden, the route leads to the last stage. Through Buddelin, a near-natural beech forest, the path runs over partially steep terrain to Mukran. Anyone wishing to admire a geological rarity should definitely take a short detour over the impressive flint fields. Massive storm surges washed the fist-sized blocks into the forest about 4,000 years ago and piled them into mighty embankments.
