Along the Blies, it goes shaded at the edge of the forest through the green river floodplain. Over lush meadows and blooming pastures at the edge of the Bliesgau biosphere reserve. There are repeatedly wide views, also into the Vosges.
Sections over the heights offer fantastic views into the Vosges. Like a short time travel, it goes through enchanted ruins and overgrown parks of former bourgeois estates. Adventurous exploration on narrow paths and relaxed strolling on wide meadow transitions, the Blies border path offers something for every taste. Adventurous appearing paths through enchanted ruins and overgrown parks of former bourgeois estates lead to sun-drenched slopes, where wine growing was also practiced on the Upper Saar. With places to stop and the invitation for a detour into neighboring France, the Blies border path holds a Saarland promise: with boundless charm.

Attention:
Entering the forest and walking the trails is generally at your own risk!
Seasonal and weather-related conditions require increased surefootedness on some trail sections. Therefore, wear clothing and hiking boots suited for the season and weather with appropriate tread. Caution is advised due to breaking branches and damaged trees. In stronger wind as well as in winter due to snow and ice, dangers increase from falling trees and dropping crown parts.

Roadbook
From the hiking parking lot in the street Zur Wackenmühle, we walk past the Sängerheim heading south through the forest to walk to the Blies bridge. This footbridge connects Germany and France. At the beginning of the bridge stands a friendship stone created by schoolchildren. A detour into the French territory beyond the Blies is worthwhile. There is the Blies mill, which houses a museum for stoneware technology.
Back in Germany, we follow the path along the Blies and ascend to the picturesque Mühlenwald pond. Children can play on the playground. The route then goes downhill again to the Blies, makes a left bend, and leads us past a quarry to the small district "Bliesgersweiler Mühle." The steep road uphill awaits a resting place with a view over the village of Bliesransbach.
The route continues into the forest over narrow paths to the first beautiful open view over the typical cultural landscape of open fields and scattered orchards. From the height, one goes downhill, crosses a forest road, and descends in serpentine curves past scattered fruit plantations. Next comes an old estate, past whose dry stone walls on winding paths one goes down again into the Tiefenbach valley. A steep climb leads the hiker out of the forest again to the fields and meadows on the so-called Wehrholzer Weg.
Here also, a resting place invites you to linger. With good visibility, you can see the Vosges on the section over the heights. You then follow the field paths a bit until at an old radio tower the path leads back on trails into the forest. On a forest trail, you pass the "Thick Oak." At the 200-year-old oak is another resting place.
Only a short section remains until the first houses of Sitterswald appear. A few meters along the L 106 and you are at the starting point of the route.
