The circular hike starts in the district of Besenfeld of the municipality of Seewald on the Mittelweg of the Schwarzwaldverein, the Old Wine Road, which leads from Gernsbach to Kniebis and Alpirsbach. A first viewpoint above the village, at the Robert Schneider Hut, named after a former mayor of the municipality, offers a view back to Besenfeld and, in good visibility, to the Swabian Alb. Wonderful panoramic views of the Murgtal as well as to the highest mountain of the Northern Black Forest, the Hornisgrinde (1164 m). At the beginning of the 18th century, the inn "Oberes Neuhaus" (1781 – 1803) stood in the middle of the forest. It served the poet Wilhelm Hauff as a model for his story "The Inn in the Spessart." From the Neuhaus Hut (Forstrat Ebert Hut), the Scheiterweg leads steeply down to the Murgtal to Schönmünzach. On the Scheiterweg, towards the end of the 18th century, firewood was transported with ox carts from the former border near Schönmünzach between Baden and Württemberg to the storage place Oberes Neuhaus. The path is left towards the Verlobungsfelsen, around which there is a nice story (see picture), and descends to Schönmünzach. The route continues to Schwarzenberg. The writer Wilhelm Hauff spent holidays with his uncle (the pastor) at the local parsonage. The story "The Cold Heart" was also written here. Steeply uphill on a trail path, the starting point Besenfeld is reached again.

The Old Wine Road
This arduous track was the connection for centuries between the upper Murg region and the Upper Rhine Plain. The road leaves the Murgtal at Gernsbach (165 m) and leads up the west slope to the highest point at Breitloh (983 m). Then it runs along the ridge approximately following the watershed of the Murg and Enz, gently descending past Schramberg to Besenfeld and further to Klosterreichenbach. Goods transport was done with carts and pack animals such as horses, donkeys, and oxen. With the construction of the valley roads in the Murgtal and Enztal (1831), the importance of the "Old Wine Road" as a medieval trade route between Baden and Württemberg ended.
Derived from the technical difficulty and the stamina requirements.
