Easy Hiking through the Olive Groves to Stari Bar
A marked path leads from the camp Bartula through the olive groves and across some streams with crystal clear water. The impressive scenery of the coastal mountains can be seen above the ancient olive trees, far below the sea shines. The second part of the path is partially concreted to facilitate the cultivation of olives. The autochthonous olive variety of “Barska Zlatica” (“Gold Olive of Bar”) is characterized
by gnarled trees with striking holes and concavities. After the third bridge, a small path on the right leads steeply up the slope to the ramparts of town of Stari Bar. A walk between the ruins of the town in front of the picturesque mountain backdrop is worth well: the impressive fortress with the town walls, the aqueduct, the Turkish bath, several churches and residential buildings are still partially preserved or have been carefully restored.
Author’s recommendation
Instead of the steep climb to the fortress, go left through the settlement to the bazaar.
