At Windeck Castle, the mindfulness trail begins and invites you to independent forest bathing in the Frauenwald (Women’s Forest) with spoken texts and appropriate exercises - naturally not only for women. The focus is on conscious walking, seeing, feeling, hearing, and breathing. Several hammocks and a treehouse along the path offer ideal places to slow down and listen to the voices of the forest.

Past the vineyards, the AugenBlick round leads with impressive panoramic views over Bühl to the Rhine plain. Highlights of the route include the idyllic rest area at the Guckenhütte and the Nature Park AugenBlick Bühl near the pilgrim Jacob sculpture. The Fatima memorial is also located on the Baden Way of St. James.

Following forest paths and narrow trails, the route then climbs steeply to the Bühl Rock. The striking rock formation offers an impressive view. It was the left support point of the approximately ten-kilometer-long “Bühl-Stollhofen Line,” which was constructed from 1701 by Margrave Ludwig Wilhelm I of Baden-Baden, also called “Turkish Louis.” It played an important role during the War of the Spanish Succession and was successfully defended in 1703.

At the end, the circular route leads through bright chestnut forests back to the starting point at Windeck Castle.

At the end of the tour, the climb to the 28 m high eastern bergfried (keep) of the Alt-Windeck Castle ruins is rewarded with a magnificent panoramic view.

    Roadbook

The circular hike begins at the hiking parking lot of Windeck Castle with initial mindfulness exercises for finding the right path. At first, you follow a few meters along the Ortenau Wine Trail towards the Jägerweg Fountain to the Peace Oak, which was planted in 1871 after the Franco-Prussian War. Without further marking, the path leads past it on the right and shortly afterwards turns right uphill again. A narrow path leads to the left at the top into the mindfulness trail, where its end sign is located.

In the reverse direction, you follow the beautiful forest path with experience stations and hammocks to a hairpin bend. There, continue left to the impressive approximately 200-year-old silver fir. At the Jägerweg Fountain, turn right onto the unmarked path between the destination signs “Middle Jägerweg” and “Krombach.” At the point where a yellow diamond (old trail marking?) still points straight ahead, keep left to the junction of the Ortenau Wine Trail, which here is also part of the AugenBlick Round Bühl.

Along the vineyards, you reach the rest area at the Guckenhütte a few meters off the path. Shortly afterwards, you come to the Nature Park AugenBlick Bühl and the sculpture of the pilgrim Jacob. At the “Oberm Senftertal” signpost, a short detour to the Fatima memorial is worthwhile.

At the “Klotzberg” fork, follow the yellow diamond on the Middle Jägerweg - at the second fork turn right - up to the Bühl Rock. The return path leads over the Frauenboscheben through the Frauenwald and finally back to Windeck Castle on the already known path.
