The Ruggeller Riet forms - together with the Bangser Riet in the adjacent Vorarlberg - a magnificent peatland.
In May, the blue blossoms of the Siberian iris shine. Rare birds nest in the reeds and bushes. Also, various insects and harmless reptiles love the moist and untouched meadows. Limseneck (quarry), Halameder, Hohla Kär (rock cave), and the sunken bath are the stations that lead in a wide arc at the foot of the Eschnerberg to the customs house. To the west, we reach the meadows and peat holes of the Ruggeller Riet. Via Evimäder, Weienau, and Bangserfeld, we come to the inland canal dam, where we end our circular route through the nature reserve.
Tip: During breeding season, show special consideration for wildlife and do not leave the marked paths. Bring binoculars for bird watching.
