The start of the route is at Oberkirch Train Station. You cross the street and walk along Bahnhofstraße to the pedestrian zone. At the museum, turn right and continue past the „Obere Linde“ hotel towards the Stadtgarten. The yellow diamond leads you through the Stadtgarten to Haus Pfaff and then further along the street „In der Höll“ uphill to house number 2 d. Here turn right and follow the signs to the Schwalbenstein Fountain and the Schwalbenstein Monument (Husar Monument). Once there, continue hiking along the yellow diamond past the Schwalbensteinhütte to the Upper Schauenburg Way. From here, go uphill past the Dilgerbrunnen to Mühlebur. At this fork, keep left and hike a stretch on the Renchtalsteig to the Schwend Parking Lot, the highest point of the route. At Schwend, begin the descent through Burgerwald to Oberkirch, passing the Fellhauer Hut with a barbecue area. The path leads downhill via the Kapuziner Fountain through the vineyards and over Sandgasse to Gaisbach. Along Gaisbacher Straße, walk to the Leimen Fountain. Then hike on the Ortenauer Wine Path past the Protestant church to the customs office. Once there, turn left along Eisenbahnstraße back to the Oberkirch Train Station.
Tip: At the Kapuziner Fountain, you can also take a detour to the Schauenburg Ruins. If you keep left there, you reach the castle ruins directly (approx. 1 km). To return to the station, follow the signage for the Oberkirch Wine Walk or return to the Kapuziner Fountain and then follow the route described above.
