From Neippberg, the trail leads up to the castle. Then back down into the village. A beautiful sunken path leads us out of the vineyards. After that, the trail alternates between forest and vineyards, offering great views of the valley. Shortly before the end of the hike, we arrive at the “Hörnle”—a popular restaurant with a beer garden and a great view.
Author’s recommendation
Be sure to stop by the Wengertercafé in Neippberg over the weekend and enjoy the delicious, homemade cake. It’s best to sit outside in the beautiful garden. A very nice RV park is the “Heuhölzle” in Neippberg. Located right next to the vineyards, it features a shower and restroom, seating areas, wine for sale, and very friendly owners.

The GPS track starts at the “Heuhölzle” RV park on the outskirts of Neippberg. However, you can also start right from the center of Neippberg. In the town center, a path branches off to the right and leads up to the castle. We follow this path. Once at the top, we walk through the castle courtyard and follow the path to the left. This takes us back toward the village. At the state highway, we turn left and then right. We then come to the “Deckerhohle” ravine path. From there, continue straight ahead into the forest. At the edge of the forest, where the vineyards begin, turn immediately left uphill. Then follow the narrow path to the left along the edge of the forest. At the country road, turn briefly to the right and then immediately left again, heading down toward the valley. Cross the country road and head into the forest. Now follow the Hörnleweg all the way. This also applies to the vineyards that follow. We walk parallel to the edge of the forest the entire time. Follow the narrow footpath steeply uphill through the forest toward “Hörnle.” This brings us to the “Hörnle” restaurant and beer garden. We leave it by turning right into the woods and follow the road to the edge of the forest. There, turn right and continue along the edge of the vineyards. Next comes a fork to the right leading to Neippberg Castle. We follow this path and return to the castle, where we were earlier this morning. We walk through the castle and then down the narrow path into the village. We’ve now arrived back at our starting point in Neippberg.
