Around Hohenneuffen

From the Raupental hiking car park at the foot of the Jusi between Kohlberg and Kappishäusern, follow the blue triangle uphill to the Jusi. From there, we follow the red triangle towards Hörnle for 2 km. From the Sattelbogen, a natural pass between Dettingen/Erms and Neuffen, the path is again marked with a blue triangle. It continues uphill to the Hörnle at 706 m above sea level. At Schillingskreuz, we continue along the Ströhmfeldweg towards Karlslinde for 1 km and take the first fork, the path rising to the right. This later leads upwards in several switchbacks to the Karlslinde. After a short detour to the Karlslinde in the Hülben district with a viewpoint, we return to the path and follow the path marked with a red triangle towards Neuffen. At the height of the Hülben gliding airfield, we branch off to Bad Urach. We stay on the path marked with a red triangle. Attention: shortly afterwards, the path turns left at a right angle into the forest.

At the entrance to the car park "Ob der Neuffener Steige," we cross the L 1250 road and continue on the path marked in red. The path runs about 100 m along the road towards Grabenstetten. Follow the first field path branching left towards Hohenneuffen (red triangle). At the right-hand curve of the paved field path, turn left and, after about 50 m, take the narrow path into the forest marked with the red triangle. Immediately afterwards, the path forks. Here, we take the right upper path (note: Hohenneuffen). The path now always runs along the edge of the slope.

At the shelter, turn left onto the cross path. Stay on the wide path for about 100 m and then take the narrow path branching left along the Alb cliff and stay level. The path later rejoins the path marked with the red triangle and continues along the edge of the slope.

The path passes the natural monument Höll-Löcher.

Shortly after the natural monument Molach (to the right of the path) is the start area for hang gliders. A short detour is worthwhile because of the view.

At the car park near Hohenneuffen, follow the path running parallel to the car park along the edge of the slope, which later merges into the car park of the road coming from Erkenbrechtsweiler and leads directly to Hohenneuffen Castle.

From the castle, return the same way to the fork at the end of the wall. Here we take the path equipped with a barrier and marked with a blue triangle (Neuffen station). However, we do not stay on the wide path but take the narrow path branching off to the right, which shortens the switchbacks of the marked path. At the forest crossroads, follow the path straight downhill.

Cross the old Neuffen Steige. At the bench, cross the meadow and go right on the field path 50 m away along the gardens. Then take the path leading left downhill about 50 m before the high-voltage line.

At the fork under the high-voltage line with two paved paths, take the lower path sharply to the left. At the beginning of the vineyards, take the steep path leading down to Neuffen. At the end of the descending path, turn left. After the vineyard hut, turn right and take the path leading to Neuffen. After the stairs of Eichbergstraße, follow downhill into the town. At Albstraße, turn right into the town and at the "Wahle-Bas" inn, turn left into Uracher Weg. At the street "Schützenhaus," turn right. We stay on Schützenhausweg to the town exit. The path is later also marked with a sign: direction Viehweide. After the school, follow the left curve going uphill and about 100 m later at the fork turn right towards Schützenhaus/Viehweide. After another 100 m at the fork, turn right towards Viehweide.

At the Viehweide farmstead, take the field path running parallel to the power line towards Kohlberg. At the end of the path, turn right onto the downhill path with the power lines. The path here is again marked with a blue triangle. At the next fork, turn sharply left onto the paved agricultural road towards Kohlberg.

At the fork, take the branch to the right. After about 200 m at the first fork, take the paved path branching left. After the bridge behind the "Steinernes Brückle" car park, turn right towards the street, then go left on the bike and footpath towards Kohlberg.

We pass the town sign of Kohlberg and cross the town on the footpaths parallel to Neuffener Straße. At the road fork, follow the footpath along the street towards Kappishäusern back to the starting point.
