From the parking lot you walk north along the road, past Pension Nordwald and a pond, which are located at a bend in the road. Shortly after the bend, turn right before a house onto a path that leads over a meadow into the forest. Follow the path to a fork, continue straight ahead and shortly after cross a gravel road. On the hiking trail, continue uphill through the forest, occasionally crossing the gravel road or walking on it. However, the path is always well marked and easy to find. At about 900 meters elevation, you reach a trail junction where you turn right. Shortly after, you reach the parking lot of the Nebelstein hut and follow the signposted path for 10-15 minutes to the hut.

Coming from Linz to Freistadt and then via B38 to Karlstift. From there on B41 to Roßbruck, turn left towards Maißen and follow the road to Hirschenwies. The parking lot is located opposite Pension Kristall.
Coming from Vienna via Stockerau to Krems an der Donau and further via B37 and B38 to Zwettl. Around the town bypass Zwettl and further to Weitra. From there on B41 to Roßbruck, turn right to Maißen and follow the road to Hirschenwies. The parking lot is located opposite Pension Kristall.
