Rail & Trail "Over the stately Dietrichstein Lake to Feldkirchen"

The cultural hike begins in the narrow Glan breakthrough valley, at St. Martin-Sittich railroad station. At first we follow the main road - here increased caution is required - then quiet farm roads lead up the side of the valley. As the altitude increases, the narrow valley disappears from view and a rural plain with forest mountains dominates the scenery to the south-east. We soon reach the picturesque Dietrichstein Lake: the artificial water surface, the pretty Dietrichstein country castle, its surrounding park ... inspire with the flair of a stately landscape garden. Incidentally, there used to be a Dietrichstein castle on the edge of the terrain in front of the castle, which served to secure the Glantal road and Feldkirchen. We continue our walk on a dirt road across a hidden high plateau: initially pastures, later fields, a hidden farming community ... and wonderful views of the Gerlitzen and the Nockberge mountains. On the descent through the forest flank, a short "panoramic high trail" surprises us. After a short ascent in the opposite direction, we reach the settlement area of the Feldkirchen district of St. Ruprecht at the edge of the terrain. With unusual views of the town, we descend to Feldkirchen i.K. railroad station.
